What is LuciferCore?

LuciferCore is a high-performance .NET framework built for modulith architecture: build clean, independent modules inside one application today, then split them into microservices later — without rewriting your core logic.

It combines two design principles that usually pull in opposite directions:

  • OOP for clear, maintainable structure at the API surface (Session, Request, Response, Handler, Middleware)
  • DOD (Data-Oriented Design) for raw speed and memory efficiency on the hot path (buffers, pooling, dispatch)

The result is a Buffer-Model architecture: network payloads flow through contiguous, pooled buffers instead of scattered heap allocations, keeping data close together in CPU cache and keeping the GC out of the way.

Core principles

Buffer-Model & pooling. ObjectPool and ArrayPool-backed buffers minimize allocations, maximize throughput, and keep memory usage flat and predictable under load.

Event-driven networking. The transport layer is built on event-driven I/O — TCP, UDP, SSL, UDS, and HTTP/WS/WSS on top — not Task/async-await chains. That means a fast, low-overhead event pipeline with stable memory behavior under concurrency.

Attributes, not boilerplate. Servers, handlers, middleware, and background workers are plain classes decorated with attributes ([Server], [Handler], [Middleware], [Manager]). You write business logic; the framework discovers and wires the rest — with the request-handling hot path compiled ahead of time by a Roslyn source generator, so there's no reflection at dispatch time.

Raw performance, manual wiring
